Commemorative Books

Despite the digital age in which we live, sometimes nothing beats a properly produced, high quality book. When the committee of the Ely City Golf Course decided to celebrate the first 50 years of the course, a commemorative book was a popular choice.

The Club turned 50 in 2012, and the idea for a book was raised at a committee meeting. Members Iris Silvey and Marjorie Miller took up the mantle and set about researching the early years by looking through old Committee minutes, talking to old Members and generally trying to piece together how the Club was set up. The contents of the book are therefore taken from personal research, as well as committee minutes and interviews with various staff and club members.

It gives great insight into the running of such an establishment, and a flavour of the mix of personalities involved in the course’s history and evolution. Full of pictures, quotes and history, the book is a superb 120-page tribute to a wonderful golf course, and the people who have kept it alive. We have produced it to the highest quality in keeping with the image the club wanted to convey.

The book has been well received by members of the committee past and present. Former Club Captain Michael Hoare said, “We have enjoyed how the information has been presented. I do think we were very lucky to find Victoire Press as they have done an excellent job of producing the book….very impressive.”

We hope that when the 100 year commemorative edition is being produced, they will think of us again; though the team might be a little different by then!

To celebrate the charity’s 30th anniversary volunteers at the Arthur Rank Hospice worked together to produce a wonderful account of the hospice which featured staff, volunteers and people who had been touched by the care offered by the hospice during that time.

Donna Talbot from Arthur Rank said, “It was fitting we chose a local company to support us with this exciting project and were delighted when Victoire Press was able to help. Adrian worked closely with our designer to ensure everything was absolutely perfect. It made the process seamless and ensured when the book was received it was beautiful and of the high quality that Adrian had promised. The personal contact, advice and guidance were truly first class and I would happily recommend Victoire Press to others.” Always lovely to hear from happy customers!

At Victoire we produce a lot of books, and it is always fascinating to see the different subjects and passions that people have. From local histories to personal celebrations, factual documentation to stunning photographic displays, anything is possible. Ironically, the digital age is actually our ally, as it allows great flexibility in print, meaning lower quantities are perfectly viable for most budgets, so we can always help self-publishers, from one-offs to national-scale print runs.

So if you are thinking of committing your research, your story or your life’s work to paper, come and talk to us about it. We can help you every step of the way, from costing up different options to suit your budget, to laying out artwork, printing and fulfilling the finished product. We take as much pride in printing as the creators do in their books, so you will always get a product you are delighted with.

Give us a call to talk through your project – we’re looking forward to working with you.
