It’s amazing to think that a whole year has passed since we last set out with Premier Paper to plant trees for the Woodland Trust’s Carbon initiative. And yet here we are again, and printer Gary’s arms are aching today after an intensive day of tree-planting yesterday!
On Thursday 27th November, Premier Paper organised their Carbon Capture Tree Planting Day at Heartwood Forest in Hertfordshire. At 857 acres, Heartwood is the largest of the Woodland Trust’s sites, and is home to four ancient woodlands as well as newly planted forest. It is a recognised “Woodland Carbon Site”, with regular reforestation work over the last decade.
Volunteers turned up from 9.30am and between them planted 3000 saplings. It was a grand achievement and shows our awareness of the impact our paper usage has on the environment. It was hard work, but well worth it, and we are proud of our continuing support to such an important cause.
If you would like to get involved in future tree planting initiatives, either give us a call to find out how you can help, or visit the Woodland Trust’s website at www.woodlandtrust.org.uk.
