Congratulations to The Soundwaves Project for raising over £500 for their chosen charities at their inaugural rockaoke gig on 10th October 2013 at The Portland Arms in Cambridge. We’re pleased to have been able to support you with this event, the banner looks great.
The rockaoke band, Up and Atom, played over 20 songs to a delighted crowd, many of whom got up to take their turn on stage, including a few birthday parties, and some members of the Soundwaves Project themselves.
Soundwaves founder, and lead singer of up and Atom, Gavin Bates said: “A lot of hard work went into making our first event a success and I was absolutely delighted with the effort the Soundwaves team put in. Working alongside people that share the same goals and want to improve the wellbeing of others made the whole thing a joy. Most importantly, the rockaoke night was fantastic and everyone that came really entered into the spirit of things. We had some great singers and raised a large amount of money for two wonderful causes. This is only the start though and there is still a lot of work to be done to remove the stigma associated with mental health and we won’t stop until we get there.”
With rumours abound that this will be the first of many, audience members who weren’t quite brave enough to test their vocal skills on the night can be assured that there will be another night to follow – details can be found on www.soundwavesproject.co.uk.
