The Cambridge-based initiative’s aim is to get people talking more about mental illness to help raise understanding and awareness, as well as to remove the stigma of mental health conditions.
The rockaoke event itself will feature the popular Cambridge band Up and Atom, supported by local favourites Flaming June. The bands will play a few songs each, and then invite people in the audience up on stage to join in with their favourite numbers. If you’ve ever fancied being part of a band on stage in front of a live audience, this is your chance! It’s bound to be a popular event and it’s supporting an incredible worthwhile cause, with all moneys raised on the night being split between two charities, Mind in Cambridge and Squeaky Gate, both of which work locally with people challenged by mental health and social issues.
But however worthwhile the cause, the word needs to be spread or people won’t know about it, and that’s where we come in. We are proud to be providing posters and a banner to help publicise the event.
The rockaoke night will be held on 11th October at the Portland Arms in Cambridge. If you fancy going along and joining in – or just watching the fun from the sidelines – tickets are available now direct from: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/237098
